Our Story
1954
Cama Products was founded 70 Years ago by Paul Cashmore. Paul’s experience in the industry started in the 1940’s, working alongside his father, Sid Cashmore, at Cashmore Motors, which held franchises for Jaguar and Citroën.In search of new challenges, Paul ventured into outdoor power equipment and farm machinery, establishing partnerships with Mayfield, Howard and Massey Harris, under the brand Cashmore Machinery.
Over the decades, the business grew, with Paul’s three sons joining the company, bringing on more iconic brands including Stihl, MTD, Gravely, Countax and Power Pony.
1985
Cashmore Machinery acquired the exclusive agency for John Deere agricultural and outdoor power equipment in Northland, New Zealand.
1997
The business relocated to a spacious 2-acre site on Kioreroa Road, enhancing its capacity for growth.
2004
The decision was made to sell off the tractor and agricultural machinery division allowing the focus to shift onto the outdoor power equipment market, with Paul’s son Simon leading this change in direction and the subsequent rebranding of Cashmore Machinery to Cama Products.
This also marked the entrance of the fourth generation into the business, with Simon’s three sons joining the company. Cama set the ambitious goal of becoming New Zealand’s leading supplier of aftermarket OPE parts, delivering unmatched customer service, and comprehensive dealer support.
2005
Acquisition of ‘H.E.Cooper’ NZOPE parts distribution warehouse
2012
Acquisition of ‘Just Parts’ a NZOPE chainsaw parts wholesaler
2014
To meet growing demand Cama built a new, purpose-built facility with 3PL warehousing added throughout NZ the following year.
2015
Cama solidified its industry leadership by acquiring New Zealand’s largest OPE parts supplier.
Acquisition of 'Mowac Corporation' a large national OPEparts and accessories distributor
2020
Cama expanded its product range to include whole goods equipment brands including Meiwa compactors, Atom Edgers, and Cox & Greenfield mowers.
2021
Warehouse capacity doubled to accommodate inventory growth, and additional 3PL warehouses were utilised for larger equipment.
